Trailer - As if I'm not there
Film Trailers by Filmtrailer.com
I made notes about what I had seen in the film that gave clues about What the film could possibly be about. these clues were
- The tattoo on the wrist - prisoner?
- locked in a room at the end
- young women - older men
- blank / innocent facial expressions
- fearful
- mountain ranges
- tatty clothing
- travelling
- sad/tense music
- main women with different men
- men with guns
- men and women are separate
These clues all lead to my overall idea of what the film was about this was...
Women taken hostage by the soldiers and kept in prisons (camps). the older women are used for work and the younger women are used for sex. The main character has been separated from her younger sister in order to have sex with older men. At the end the women have been freed from the camps.
Actual storyline
A harsh dose of cinematic realism about a harsh time-the Bosnian War of the 1990s-Juanita Wilson's drama is taken from true stories revealed during the International Criminal Tribunal in The Hague. Samira is a modern schoolteacher in Sarajevo who takes a job in a small country village just as the war is beginning to ramp up. When Serbian soldiers overrun the village, shoot the men and keep the women as labourers (the older ones) and sex objects (the younger ones), Samira is subjected to the basest form of treatment imaginable.
Conclusion
I noticed that my prediction was fairly similar to the actual plot, I was able to figure out the storyline from the clues that the mise-en-scene and camera angles had left. This made me realise that we needed to have certain clues in our trailer so that we can give away enough information to entice people to come and see the film but not give away too much information so the plot is ruined.
